Support is available to help you develop a strong funding application. This includes guidance on identifying appropriate funding routes, advice on eligibility and timelines, and practical assistance with application development.

For example, our finance teams can help identify and calculate salary and project costs. For larger personal research awards, experienced colleagues can provide feedback on draft applications and support you in developing a competitive proposal.

The NIHR Exeter BRC is pleased to offer online statistical advice clinics to support students and researchers with their projects.

Clinics will run:

• Frequency: Every second Wednesday
• Time/place: 11:00am – 1:00pm / MS Teams
• Format: 30-minute one-to-one appointments

These clinics provide an opportunity to receive expert statistical guidance on study design, analysis plans, and data interpretation.

The Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME) supports advancing scholarship in health professions education and has an Early Career Health Professions Educator Network.

This is a new initiative designed to support and connect early career educators across the health professions. 

Hosted via WhatsApp Communities, the network provides an accessible platform for educators to share experiences, exchange resources, and build professional connections across institutions and regions.

The network offers a central community hub alongside optional sub-groups based on regional and thematic interests, including areas such as simulation, clinical reasoning, assessment, and digital innovation. 

Through peer support, knowledge exchange, and space for discussion, the EC-HPE Network aims to foster collaboration and support the development of the next generation of health professions educators.

The Trusts Clinical Academic Network brings together staff interested and involved with research at many levels from those taking early steps to staff post PhD.

The purpose of the network is to bring staff together to hear what people are involved with, make connections and be updated on internal initiatives and external funding and other opportunities.

The network also supports grant applications, mock interviews and provides mentoring and mentorship opportunities.

We meet 3-4 times a year and send information by email in between meetings.
