To access most of our online resources, you will require an NHS OpenAthens account.

The easiest way to search all of our journals is through the Knowledge and Library Search Hub.

NHS Knowledge and Library Search Hub

The NHS Knowledge and Library Search Hub gives you access to many high-quality, full-text journal articles through databases like Medline, CINAHL Ultimate, and Trip Pro—available with an NHS OpenAthens account.

If an article isn’t immediately accessible, you can easily request a copy through the Search Hub.

NHS OpenAthens

An NHS OpenAthens account gives you secure, easy access at work and at home, to online resources such as journal articles, e-books and databases, using a single username and password to sign-in.

Browzine

What is BrowZine?

BrowZine is a web and mobile application designed to facilitate the browsing, reading, and monitoring of journals. BrowZine can be used to easily find, read, and monitor thousands of scholarly journals available to you via the library.

How do I access BrowZine?

  • Go to https://browzine.com
  • Select Choose my library.
  • Choose Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust from the list of library names.
  • Log in using your NHS OpenAthens username and password to access full-text journals. If you don't yet have an NHS OpenAthens account, please register here.

Publications A-Z - EBSCOHost

What is Publications A-Z?

Publications A-Z is an EBSCOHost tool that helps you find all the online journals the library subscribes to. You can search by title or subject to see if the library has access to a specific journal and what years are available. It's a quick way to check if you can read a particular article online via the library.

How do I access Publications A-Z?

  • Go to publications.ebsco.com
  • Start typing Royal Devon into the box called Let’s find your institution
  • Select the option for Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and click ‘Continue’
  • Log in using your NHS OpenAthens username and password. If you don't yet have an NHS OpenAthens account, please register here.

LibKey Nomad - One Click Access to Journal Articles

What is LibKey Nomad?

LibKey Nomad is a free browser extension provided by NHS England that simplifies access to full-text journal articles.

Once installed, LibKey Nomad automatically checks if an article is available through your library subscription or open access sources, providing one-click access to PDFs or full-text links.

What are BMJ Journals?

BMJ Journals includes a variety of key titles, across a range of specialities, including clinical, evidence-based and public health journals.

How do I access BMJ Journals?

  • Visit journals.bmj.com/ and click ‘Log in’.
  • You will be presented with a Log in via OpenAthens button.
  • Log in using your NHS OpenAthens username and password. If you don't yet have an NHS OpenAthens account, please register here.

Cochrane Library

What is The Cochrane Library?

The Cochrane Library is a collection of databases that contain different types of high-quality, independent evidence to inform healthcare decision-making. The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (CDSR) is the leading resource for systematic reviews in health care and reports of randomised and quasi-randomised controlled trials.

How do I access the Cochrane Library?

  • Visit https://www.cochranelibrary.com/
  • Please note: On an NHS networked computer, you should have immediate access without having to log-in.
  • At home & elsewhere, click Sign in and select Institutional login.
  • Select the option to Login with OpenAthens.
  • Log in using your NHS OpenAthens username and password. If you don't yet have an NHS OpenAthens account, please register here.

Wiley Medicine and Nursing Journal Collection

What is the Wiley Journal Collection?

The Wiley Medicine and Nursing Journal Collection features a range of over 400 titles in total, providing the latest news and information across a broad spectrum of critical healthcare issues.

How do I access Wiley journals?

  • Visit https://www.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/
  • Click Login/register then select Institutional login.
  • Click Sign in with your OpenAthens Account
  • Log in using your NHS OpenAthens username and password. If you don't yet have an NHS OpenAthens account, please register here.

New England Journal of Medicine - Limited Free Account

While the library does not currently have a subscription to the New England Journal of Medicine, you can still access limited content for free by creating a complimentary account at NEJM.org. With a free account, you can:

  • Read 2 subscriber-only articles of your choice each month

  • Receive the Weekly Table of Contents email to stay updated

  • Sign up for up to 20 specialty-specific email alerts

  • Save articles and searches for easy access later

You can also request a journal article from the library for anything that you cannot access.
