MY CARE upgrade brings new features for patients
8 May 2025
An upgrade to MY CARE on Wednesday 14 May is bringing new features to patients who use the digital system.
There are a few changes patients will notice, including the ability to sign in securely, using passkeys. There are also some other small changes that are explained in more detail below.
The upgrade is part of an ongoing process of improvement to ensure MY CARE provides patients with the best user experience and keeps their data secure.
The changes being brought in on Wednesday 14 May include:
Securely log into MY CARE with Passkeys
A passkey is a secure, passwordless authentication method that uses a key pair to verify your identity when logging into a website or application.
To set up a Passkey, log into MY CARE via the web, a new card appears in the Explore More section at the bottom of the Home page if you haven’t already created a passkey.
The button will take you directly to the Passkey Management page, where you can create a passkey. Alternatively, you can also access the Passkey Management page from the Account Settings page in MY CARE.
Click the ‘Add new passkey’ button and follow prompts to create a passkey. If the authenticator requires user verification, complete this by entering a passcode or verifying biometric login, such as facial recognition or a fingerprint scan.
After you add a passkey, you can choose to give it a more memorable name by clicking the pencil icon.
You have now set up a Passkey, when you log in from now on, you can click the Log in with passkey button, you then unlock your passkey. You can also skip two-factor authentication by logging in with a passkey if user verification was performed when creating that passkey.
To remove a passkey, you can return to the Passkey Management page and click the ‘Remove passkey’ button. To fully remove the passkey, you should remove it from your password manager, such as Google Password Manager or iCloud Keychain, as well.
Please note you cannot use passkeys on the mobile app.
Security Settings is now called Account Settings
The Security Settings page is now called account settings and has a slightly different view:
