A new specialist sexual assault support hub has opened in Plymouth enhancing access to vital services for individuals who have been sexually assaulted.

The Plymouth Support Hub, funded by NHS England, provides a dedicated base for specialist crisis workers and delivers trauma stabilisation support in a safe, accessible environment.

Lyndsay Howell, general manager of Devon and Cornwall Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs) said: ‘This new hub has been established to strengthen and expand the support available to people in Plymouth. Our services are open to anyone who has experienced rape or sexual assault, and the hub will offer face-to-face support This enables individuals to better understand their options and the specialist help and support available to them.”

“The hub represents a significant investment in local SARC provision services and is a positive step forward in both enhancing support and enabling stronger collaboration with partner organisations across the city.”

SARCs provide confidential care and support to anyone who has been raped, sexually assaulted or abused. The Plymouth Support Hub complements the existing Plymouth SARC, by increasing face-to-face support and broadening access to tailored services.

Officially opened on 1 June, 2026, the hub offers: trauma stabilisation options; access to SARC crisis workers and an Armed Forces SARC liaison nurse supporting a new exciting project working to improve access to SARC services for military personnel.

Located at Brunswick House in the Cattedown area of Plymouth, the hub sits alongside partner organisations including First Light, which provides specialist support for those affected by domestic abuse or sexual violence, and The Children’s Society. There are further opportunities for partnership working, and SARC welcomes enquiries from charities or groups interesting in increasing the local support network.

Appointments at the hub are available through SARC services. A 24-hour information line is available on 0300 303 4626.

Devon & Cornwall SARCs also has centres in Exeter and Truro, providing comprehensive support throughout the region. The centres can also help with sexual health advice, emergency contraception and onward referrals to additional specialist support where required.
