Doris Heard Ward
There are currently 16 medical inpatient beds at the hospital in the Doris Heard Ward.
Other services
In addition, a range of services and clinics are provided which enable people to be cared for closer to home and in their own community.
The services are mainly provided by the Royal Devon and a number of other providers.
The hospital is fully wheelchair accessible.

Exmouth Minor Injuries Unit (MIU)
There is also a Minor Injuries Unit (MIU), for injuries that do not require A&E attention (such as sprains, strains, burns, bites, wounds, breaks, aches or pains), an X-ray department and Day Surgery Unit (DSU). The service primarily caters to patients aged 2 and above and does not cater to abdominal pain or dizziness. Please phone 111 for advice on this.
Current opening times for the MIU, including bank holidays (except Christmas Day), are:
- Monday: 8am - 8pm
- Tuesday: 8am - 8pm
- Wednesday: 8am - 8pm
- Thursday: 8am - 8pm
- Friday: 8am - 8pm
- Saturday: 8am - 8pm
- Sunday 8am - 8pm
Last patient book-in time is half an hour before the unit closes.

X-ray facilities are available at Exmouth MIU at the following times:
- Monday to Friday: 9.15am-4.30pm (last request at 4.15pm)
- Saturday to Sunday: No X-ray facility scheduled*
*X-ray may be provided if resource is available. Please check with reception.
