Getting here

The Macleod Diabetes and Endocrine Centre is located at Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (Wonford) - the centre’s address and postcode is:

Macleod Diabetes and Endocrine Centre
Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (Wonford)
Barrack Road
Exeter
EX2 5DW

Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (Wonford)

Most of our clinics are held in the Centre, which is situated just off Haldon View Terrace near to the corner with Barrack Rd. We advise that you do not come to the main hospital entrance, which is a 10 minute walk.

We have maps of the main Wonford site and the main hospital wards.

We also offer diabetes and endocrine clinics at Honiton Hospital.

Park and Ride

There is a Park and Ride bus service from the Sowton Park and Ride site (EX2 5GL), which is situated just off the M5 (Junction 30) to the east of the city. See the map below.

The buses go directly to the Wonford site, stopping at the Peninsula Medical School (RILD) and the Hospital's main entrance. The buses also stop at the Digby Park and Ride site, which is for staff only.

The Park and Ride is one of the most cost-effective forms of transport, with an adult return costing £2 (£1.50 single) and a child return costing £1 (80p single).

A return ticket is only £1.50 for all English National Concessionary Travel Scheme (ENCTS) pass holders.

Public transport

The hospital is easily accessible using public transport and other sustainable means of travel.

We are well served by local bus routes, from across Devon. A number of services stop at the hospital, whereas others require a connection with a local bus route from Exeter City Centre.

Both the main Exeter train stations, St Davids and Exeter Central, are around three miles from the hospital and are served by buses that travel directly to our site.

Walking

The hospital site is around one and a half miles from Exeter City centre and takes approximately 30 minutes on foot.

Bikes

Bike paths run throughout Exeter and the hospital site is easily accessible by bike. Bicycle parking is available across the site, particularly outside the main hospital entrance.

Car parking

Car parking on site is limited, with a number of paid car parks, which are highlighted on the map of our car parks. We encourage visitors to use public transport and other sustainable means of travel whenever possible (see the sections above for details).

Under section 7 of the Health and Medicines Act 1988 Hospitals were permitted and encouraged to introduce Income Generation schemes, to fund their services.

Our patient and visitor car parks are now controlled by Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras (ANPR), which will capture vehicle registrations on entry. Users simply enter their registration at the car park terminal when they return to their cars at the end of their hospital visit, and pay for the time used. Payment can be made with cash, card or contactless, or via mobile phone app. Please note the payment machines do not give change.

Car registrations are recorded only for the purposes of car park charging, and are used in compliance with Data Protection laws.
