Text message check-ins

Text message check-ins

If you’re on a waiting list for an appointment or procedure, you may receive a message from us via MY CARE (our online service and app). If you don't have MY CARE, you will receive a text message from an 'NHS no-reply' number.

The message includes a link to a short questionnaire where we ask a few questions. Please don’t ignore this message. It is part of our work to reduce waiting times.

The NHS no-reply number can't receive replies or calls, so please don't respond to this number. Click the link in the text message and complete the questionnaire.

Your responses help us to:

  • Keep your contact details and records up to date
  • Manage our waiting lists more effectively
  • Ensure your care is planned appropriately

If we don't hear from you, we won't make any changes to your waiting list status or booked appointments. You will stay on the waiting list and any appointments will still go ahead.

! Please note that responses are generally not reviewed by a clinician, so if your health problem is getting worse please contact the person who referred you.

Once your appointment is booked you’ll start to receive other text messages from us.

If you’re on more than one waiting list

We can help if you're not sure which waiting list the message relates to. Our teams can check and update the system for you:

MY CARE is our online service and app portal. You can see your hospital and specialist community care appointments, test results and other health information.

Visit our MY CARE pages for more information about what MY CARE can do for you.

I have a new mobile number – can I update it?

Yes. You can update your contact details at any time in one of the following ways.

  • Log into your MY CARE account and change your contact details
  • Call the number on your appointment letter to speak to us
