Occasional Volunteering

We know that not everyone can commit to an on-going volunteering position. Our occasional volunteering roles allow you to make a difference across the Trust on an ad-hoc or one-off basis.

Although you won't be coming in regularly, you will still be part of our wider volunteering team and be included in volunteer communications and celebration events. If you're interested in joining us then please click to apply for occasional volunteering roles.

The recruitment journey for these roles tends to take less time - you can see the steps here.

Music Volunteer - Fortescue Ward Barnstaple

Fortescue Ward specialises in care of older people and people with dementia. We know how much joy music can bring to our patients and are looking for a volunteer musician who can play in the ward on an ad-hoc basis. If you are a pianist, there is an electric organ and stand already on site so you wouldn't need to bring a keyboard.

Location: Fortescue Ward, NDDH

Other requirements

  • Applicants must be at least 18 to volunteer in this role.
  • Commitment: This is an ad-hoc role so can look at times that will suit you.

Readers' Panel

Royal Devon is committed to engaging with, listening to and learning from our patients and carers.  One of the ways we do this is through our Readers’ Panel which helps us to ensure that our adult patient information leaflets are easy to understand.

In Northern and Eastern Devon there are many people with different communication needs, those who have sensory needs or where English isn’t their first language. By gathering views from patients and carers, we can ensure everything that we publish meets the needs of our diverse community.

Other requirements

  • Applicants must be at least 18 to volunteer in this role.
  • Training: undertake all relevant online training for the role and comply with instructions
  • Commitment: approximately 2 to 3 hours a month

For more information please see our Readers' Panel Role Description.
