FORCE cancer charity
FORCE offers free personalised emotional and practical support for anyone whose life is affected by cancer.
We offer support by phone, video call, email or face-to-face appointment. You don’t need a referral, so please feel free to contact us on 01392 406151 or e-mail support@forcecancercharity.co.uk.
You can drop in to see us at our Support Centre in the grounds of the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital and we also operate our outreach centres at locations across Devon, including in Ottery St Mary and Okehampton.
We offer
- Information and advice from our team of nurses and information advisors
- Group education and support to support your emotional and mental wellbeing, including groups to support you with managing stress and anxiety, such as our Relaxation and Anxiety Management programme, and our Mindfulness programme
- Moving Forward after Treatment’ programme, the ‘Living with Non-Curative Cancer’ programme and retreat days, mindfulness, an arts group, yoga and pilates
- Counselling and Clinical Psychology
- A range of Complementary Therapies at the FORCE Exeter centre, on the wards at the main hospital in Wonford, and in our outreach centres. We also offer group acupuncture sessions for patients experiencing hot flushes due to the effects of treatment.
- Personalised physiotherapy assessments and advice on keeping active
- Practical sessions through our partners on managing the side-effects that can arise through cancer treatments, e.g. wigs, skincare, and make-up advice
- A range of online videos and electronic resources via our website
- If you are living with non-curable cancer, we offer support, information, retreat days and support groups
- A pre-loved wigs service so that you can get more choice about the wig you might want at an affordable price
- Advice, guidance and support in setting up your own peer support group. This includes the potential for offering some space at a FORCE centre for a fixed time to get your peer support group up and running. We will also signpost you to existing peer support groups in the area.
