Information and contact us
The majority of people are referred into Cardiology following assessment by their General Practitioner, but we also receive referrals from other health care professionals for a specialist opinion. We receive referrals from across the region for specialist assessment of rhythm problems and inherited cardiac conditions. Cardiac problems may often appear suddenly and so we offer emergency cardiac treatment around the clock for those who need it.
We run general cardiology outpatient clinics as well as dedicated appointments for patients with suspected heart disease or suspected heart failure. Depending on your appointment, you may be seen at North Devon District Hospital, the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (Wonford), at a community hospital, or in another clinical setting.
The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (Wonford) has three catheter laboratories where cardiac procedures are performed. These include diagnostic angiography, PCI (insertion of stents to open up blockages in heart vessels), pacemaker insertion and ablation procedures.
In emergencies, you should attend your nearest hospital.
