Butterfly room

Butterfly room

Welcome to the Butterfly room. This is a space that accommodates children up to 2 years of age, providing them with an enriching, cheerful and stimulating learning environment that enhances personal development.

The ratio for this age range is 1:3 for our under 2s and 1:4 for our 2 year olds. Within the room out team work collaboratively and are wholeheartedly invested in presenting meaningful learning opportunities and interactions with the children in our care, so they can develop the skills and learning tools they need to excel whilst they share their learning journey with us.

More about us

We have created a warm, welcoming and spacious environment for children to thrive in. We have a fun and learning rich environment which encourages the curiosity approach and promotes play through exploratory impulse. Our room consists of 8 qualified, kind and caring early years educators who work amazingly as a team to ensure the children have a fun filled time at nursery.

The children have very strong relationships with the staff and each other. We love to sing songs and read books together as we feel that this is a very good way to have meaningful interactions and support children’s speech and language. Our room is split into different areas to give the children the opportunity to engage in a variety of stimulating activities, including role play, construction, arts and crafts, messy play and much more. We provide a nurturing environment to ensure that the children feel safe and secure so that they can develop as individuals and meet their full potential.

We also have monthly topics that run alongside the curriculum in order for the children to gain understanding and knowledge of the world around them. These include; bugs, space, animals and different seasons. We love to keep families involved in the children’s enjoyment and progress so we often send home fun activities or crafts for the children to do at home.

Outside space

We also have a very spacious garden that the children can free flow between throughout the day - come rain or shine. This allows the children to be independent through making their own choices. The children have malleable play such as sand and water which is available every day, both inside and out and we also have lots of climbing and balancing equipment to develop our gross motor skills.

We are also lucky enough to have our beautiful forest garden that we can access to allow the children to explore as they become older and steadier on their feet, this has a large climbing frame, tree house, pond and our lovely mud kitchen which the children really enjoy. This garden provides the children with space and freedom to play and participate in age appropriate risks supporting their imagination and curiosity.
