Otter room

Welcome to the Otter room. This is a space that accommodates children between the ages of 2-5 years, providing them with an enriching, cheerful and stimulating learning environment that enhances personal development.

The ratio for this age range is 1:8 for 3-5 year olds. Within the room out team work collaboratively and are wholeheartedly invested in promoting meaningful learning opportunities and interactions with the children in our care, helping them develop the skills and learning tools they need to excel whilst they share their learning journey with us.

More about us

Otter room provides children with a happy, meaningful environment where we promote independence, build relationships and extend confidence, forming the foundations for lifelong learning and inquisitive minds.

The children have access to a large space consisting of two rooms and a garden area. We follow a 'free-flow' approach, which means that they can move between the different activities that we have set up for them to explore.

Our awareness of individual needs helps us plan and prepare for your child's next steps. We base learning topics on their interests, which helps them share their thoughts and ideas. We encourage children to ask questions and make discoveries for themselves, something which helps them take pride in their learning.

We are very proud of our Otter room family and feel a great sense of achievement when our children are ready to take the next step and start their next chapter of life at school.

Our outside space

Our learning environment is extended into our garden, which the children have constant access to throughout the day. Here we continue to provide learning opportunities by exploring and extending our play, we have access to sand and water play where we take part in lots or problem solving especially with transferring water. The children also enjoy spending time being physical, experimenting with different ways to move their bodies, and learning how to negotiate different spaces.

We feel very lucky with the extra garden space we have access to and spend lots of time in our beautiful forest garden which the children love to use. Here we create lots of opportunities for the children to explore the natural environment by observing what they see, taking part in planting activities and discussing the changes we see over time.
