Renal dietitians

Our renal dietitians work in the unit to provide a specialist service to people with kidney disease. They offer advice to both outpatients and inpatients.

Renal dietitians are specially trained to understand how diet affects kidney function, bones and the heart and are regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

What you eat and drink is an important part of your treatment in all stages of kidney disease. Your diet will need to be tailored to your condition and your needs.

Changes to your diet can help to control the build-up of waste products (such as salt, potassium and phosphate) and fluid in your blood, as well as making sure your body gets optimum nutrition.

Our dietitians will talk to you about your diet and offer you advice and support. We also have a wide range of information to hand, including diet sheets and recipes for you to take home.
