Resuscitation department

If you think someone is having a cardiac arrest, is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk then call 999 and attend an Emergency Department.

The resuscitation service provides education, support and advice to maintain a high quality of patient care in issues relating resuscitation. We:

  • Facilitate evidence-based training and education in resuscitation and associated skills
  • Provide advice and support relating to all aspects of resuscitation, including post-incident support for staff and patients through SCARS (Sudden Cardiac Arrest Recovery Support)
  • Undertake regular audits relating to equipment
  • Promote the use of national and international guidelines in relation to resuscitation and the management of acutely unwell patients
  • Support, review and maintain the organisational policies, ensuring that they reflect current ‘best practice’
  • Work with partner organisations to improve survival from cardiac arrest through the Peninsula Collaboration On Resuscitation (PenCOR)
