Safeguarding and the Mental Capacity Act

The Royal Devon Safeguarding Service works from both the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (Wonford) and North Devon District Hospital.  Our Safeguarding Teams help keep both adults and children safe across all our hospitals.

Every health organisation has staff who focus on protecting people from harm.  At the Royal Devon, we take this very seriously.  We provide advice, training, and support to help everyone understand how to safeguard patients.

We have specially trained nurses, doctors, and midwives who work closely with other health professionals, like GPs, health visitors, mental health services, CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services), and school nurses.  Our team also works with the Police, Social Care, and other local or volunteer organisations to help keep people safe, and well supported.
