Quit smoking

Quit smoking

Stopping smoking is one of the best things you'll ever do for your health. It will make your life better and protect your loved ones. You'll have more energy, better skin, healthier lungs and a longer lifespan, as well as other benefits.

Here are 10 ways your health will improve when you stop smoking.

Support at the Royal Devon and at home

We can offer you 1:1 support and nicotine replacement therapy in hospital through our specialist stop smoking team. You are four times more likely to quit smoking with this combination of support and treatment, and we can ensure this free service continues in the community post-discharge.

Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (Wonford)

Our friendly team of Stop Smoking Advisors, Steph Parker and Geoff Williams, can support you at your bedside during your hospital stay and refer you on for additional support to quit smoking beyond hospital. Ask your healthcare professional to refer you today or you can refer yourself by phone on 01392 406133.

Support in the community

Specialist maternity support

Protecting your baby from tobacco smoke is one of the best things you can do to give your child a healthy start in life. It can be difficult to stop smoking, but it's never too late to quit and the sooner you quit the better.

Help to quit is available by calling our Maternity Specialist Smoking Team on 01392 406301 or emailing rduh.maternitysmokingcessationteam@nhs.net

“It’s been helpful having Kathy motivating me to fully quit. I liked having regular check-ins with her, having someone to talk through those tricky moments was really good. She also made sure I had a good supply of Nicotine treatment to help manage my withdrawal.”
