On Wednesday 27 September we held a Members’ Event and our formal Annual Members’ Meeting (AMM).
It was fantastic to see lots of members and governors, whether in the room or on the screen, and show you some of the exciting work our staff have been doing. You had some great questions for us and it was a valuable opportunity for us to hear your views.
If you weren’t able to attend and would like to catch up, you can use the links below.
In our first session, we heard about some examples of how the Royal Devon is recovering waiting lists. Chris Crow, Divisional Director for the NHS Nightingale Hospital, talked about the new ways of working at the South West Ambulatory Orthopaedic Centre, which are being held up as a national exemplar for hip and knee replacements. Dr Elizabeth Wilkinson, Consultant Ophthalmologist and Clinical Director for Transformation, talked about the new approaches being used at the Centre of Excellence for Eyes at the Nightingale, which have helped us to reduce our backlog from around 10,000 patients to 1,500 patients.
We then had focus group conversations about the Royal Devon’s work to recover waiting lists. Understanding your views is really important as it helps us make the best decisions for our local communities, and we had some great feedback. We are working through this feedback and will share a summary and our response to this soon.
We then moved to our formal Annual Members’ Meeting. You can view the recording by clicking the link below.
We are planning to hold more events for members in the future. If anyone you know would be interested in future events, please encourage them to sign up to be a member to receive invitations direct to their email address, as well as other member benefits.
