Visiting information

Help us to stop the spread

Our hospitals are extremely busy. High numbers of patients across Devon have COVID-19, flu, other respiratory diseases and norovirus (diarrhoea or vomiting), and this is adding to the significant pressures we are currently facing.

We have infection prevention and control measures in place to reduce the spread of these viruses, but we need the public to help us.

If you have an outpatient appointment

If you have a planned appointment and have symptoms of a virus, please call the number at the top of your letter to postpone your appointment.

If you do need to use our urgent care services

Please follow the infection prevention and control guidance in place at our hospitals.

  • Practice good hand hygiene – please use the hand sanitiser provided and washing facilities
  • Wear a face covering in certain areas – click on the visitor guidance below for more details
  • If attending our emergency department (ED), you should only be accompanied by one person

Please let our clinical teams know if you are experiencing any symptoms of diarrhoea or vomiting, COVID-19 or cold or flu-like illness

If you do need to visit a loved one

Please follow our visiting guidance and consider using our alternatives to face-to-face visiting. There are other ways we can help you to stay in touch.
