Our postnatal ward is in the Centre for Women's Health, level 1
Description
Some women might need to come to the antenatal care ward before the birth of their baby. This can be due to problems arising with your pregnancy or for induction of labour.
Should you or your baby need to stay in hospital after labour and birth, you will be transferred to our postnatal ward.
We will give you support to make help you to recover from the birth and make sure you are confident with feeding and looking after your baby before you go home. We will make sure you both receive the best possible care.
If your baby needs more specialist support, they might be transferred to our Neonatal Unit (NNU) or Transitional Care ward.
Our care does not stop once you leave hospital. You will have contact from a midwife from your community team the day after you come home from hospital. They will plan when you and your baby need to be seen next. We usually discharge you to the care of the Public Health Nursing Team (health visitors) when your baby is about ten days old.
All babies receive a newborn examination (NIPE check) by one of our specialist trained midwives after they are born. This might happen while you are staying with us on the ward or you can be offered an appointment to return for this check. (hyperlink screening booklet)

Description
Creedy ward provides high quality in-patient renal services for the population of Devon and much of Somerset. In our last CQC inspection we received an 'Outstanding' rating.
We are led by a matron and an experienced group of senior nurses, all with many years of renal nursing experience. We also have a clinical practice facilitator who provides additional expertise, support and education for more junior staff. All staff working on Creedy are trained in haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis and will spend time in other parts of the renal unit with the extended renal team in order to learn wider renal skills.
Creedy aims to be a friendly and supportive environment for our patients. Often people will require more than one visit to our services, so over time a strong relationship is built up between staff, patients and their relatives. This is invaluable to both patients and staff alike.
We provide services for the following groups of patients:
Creedy is a 25 bedded acute renal ward made up of three bays, each with six beds, as well as seven side rooms. These are divided into same-sex accommodation, with same-sex toilets and bathrooms close by. Sharing with members of the opposite sex will only happen when clinically necessary.
In addition, we also have a three bedded bay area and a side room set aside to provide haemodialysis treatments and plasma exchange for patients either on the ward or from other parts of the hospital.
Patients are also supported by a variety of renal specialist services such as:
On occasion, when patients are reaching the end of their life, they may choose to spend their final days with us on the ward. This may be because they have built a relationship with the team over time and patients and their families feel supported and safe in our care. Creedy Ward and the supportive care team have achieved the Gold Standards Framework Accreditation, a nationally recognised Quality Hallmark Award for demonstrating excellence in end of life care.
