Devon Sexual Health is delighted to announce that Libraries Unlimited is supporting its C-Card scheme which gives young people aged 13-24 access to free condoms. Libraries Unlimited is now trialling four of its libraries as drop-in sites where existing C-Card holders can pick up condom packs.

The libraries involved so far are Barnstaple, Cullompton, Kingsbridge and Torquay.

Emily Lockey, Outreach Work for the C-Card scheme said: ‘We are incredibly excited to have Libraries Unlimited on board with us for our C-Card scheme.

‘This scheme is so important to us as it not only raises awareness of the benefits of using condoms for contraception and to protect against STIs, but also gives us an opportunity to provide more opportunities for young people to take control of their sexual health and make more informed choices about sex and consent.’

Colin Bray, Service Development Manager at Libraries Unlimited said: ‘We are really pleased to be involved with the C-Card scheme. Libraries have always been seen as an important part of the local community. By supporting this scheme, we are helping to safeguard and educate young people in our local towns and we hope that this collaboration will be a really positive step in encouraging more condom use.’

C-Card Devon & Torbay is a local scheme open to all young people aged 13-24. Registered C-Card holders, can access free condoms via a number of schools, universities, colleges, libraries and youth clubs across the region. C-Card holders aged over 16 can also order free condoms online and get them delivered to their home or C-Card collection points.
