The MP for Tiverton and Honiton, Richard Foord, has visited Tiverton Community Hospital to see the valuable contribution it makes to delivering patient care away from an acute hospital setting.
Mr Foord was shown around the hospital by Zoe Harris, Eastern Divisional Director for Community Services at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, and Dr Lynsey Webb, Associate Medical Director. Also welcoming Mr Foord to the site were Bill Zarrett, Chairman of the Tiverton Hospital League of Friends, and Arthur Govier, the League of Friends’ former chairman.
Mr Foord’s tour included the Castle Place Practice, a primary care facility located on the Tiverton site, inpatient wards, and a wide-ranging discussion with hospital managers and representatives from the county council and wider healthcare system on the role of community healthcare and the importance of partnership working.
Mr Foord was also shown a presentation by Kevin Ward, Associate Director of Capital Projects and Estates at the Royal Devon on plans for a new endoscopy unit which will be built on the Tiverton site later this year. The tour concluded with a look at a mobile endoscopy unit which is currently being installed.
Zoe Harris said: “We were delighted to have the opportunity to show Richard around Tiverton Community Hospital and showcase the services we are able to offer patients, bringing care closer to home."
