Greener Holiday: be more sustainable this festive season

We’ve launched Greener Holiday so you can find out how to be more sustainable this festive season.

This time of year can be very busy for many, and it is also a time when a lot of waste is generated. From the sea of wrapping paper around the room to the mountain of leftovers – it’s easy to be surrounded by waste during the holidays.

With a few simple changes, you can have a more sustainable festive season. Not only is it better for the environment, but it can also save you money and time, it’s a win-win!

Have yourself a waste-free festive season: handy guide

  • We will soon be releasing a 'beginners guide to a more sustainable festive season'. Keep an eye out once it's released

Top tips for gifting:

  • Greener gift options: there are a range of shops that provide sustainable gifts made in the UK and from sustainable materials that have reduced packaging. You may also come across a gift idea you would have never otherwise thought of such as a stylish reusable shopping bag or reusable beeswax food wrap!
    • Charity shops are also a great place to find low-cost, good-quality gifts for your friends and family. Find your local shops here

  • Give the gift of an experience: we all get (and are guilty of giving) those presents that end up unused in the back of the wardrobe. Avoid that this year and consider purchasing experiences – they’re a great way to create lasting memories and get out to do something different

  • Gift cards: stuck on what gifts your friends and family want? For those hard to buy for individuals, gift cards can be a great solution
