What do I need to bring with me?

  • Bring the food you are challenging your child with, you can see the appointment letter for this information.

  • Please consider bringing double the amount of food suggested on the letter in case we need to repeat a dose, or your child requires it to be hidden in different ways to eat it, this is less likely to lead to an incomplete challenge and will give us the ability to be more successful in offering food to your child.
  • Please bring tree nuts chopped and/or ground so they can be mixed in with foods.

  • Bring your clinic invitation letter.

  • Bring food that your child enjoys to have alongside the food being challenged. This is because we do not want to hide the challenged food with other food.

  • Bring a packed lunch for when the challenges have been completed.

  • The challenge food is often offered on its own, but your child can have other snacks or a packed lunch after the challenge.

  • We suggest not offering food prior to the challenge as we want your child to have an appetite for their challenge food.

  • Bring quiet activities to keep your child entertained.

Your child can breastfeed or have another milk during their appointment, but it is suggested this is offered at times that won't impact your child's appetite for the challenge food.

Challenge food is provided by parents/ carers of the child having the appointment and not by the clinic. See the next page to see the quantity and form of the food you should bring.

  • We ask you to bring more than required so there is enough if a dose has to be repeated. Please bring the quantity stated.
