EpicCare Link
EpicCare Link is Epic's tool for granting read only access, to third party care providers, to our EPR through a web browser. EpicCare Link achieves this goal using a unique security feature called Managed Access, only showing patient care records to an organisation they have a pre-existing clinical relation with.
What are the benefits?
The ability to view patient information in real time will aid with the transition of patient care while offering time savings over established data sharing methods.
EpicCare Link is accessed from a web browser and is designed to be simple and intuitive to use, giving access to review patient charts, see demographic and appointment information, view test results, and review other clinical information.
It’s important to note that certain clinical test or abnormal results are held back for a given time period to ensure correct communications and follow up channels are used by the Trust to ensure correct clinical practices.
When can partners access EpicCare Link?
We are currently working with partners to ensure they have access to EpicCare link when the system goes live next year. This involves checking what current Data Sharing Agreement is in place and potentially signing a new dedicated agreement for use of EpicCare Link.
Services working with TSD will be able to use EpicCare Link from the 3rd April 2026 and organisations working solely with UHP will gain EpicCare Link access from 23rd July 2026.
Ahead of each go-live partners will be able to attend a drop-in session on MS Teams to be shown the EpicCare Link tool and how to navigate its features. They’ll also receive “How To” guides prior to their log in details being released on the day of go live.
Post go-live, new users will receive the guides with their log in credentials, and the technical support team are always available should further support be needed.
