Students and school leavers interested in a career in clinical Microbiology or Cellular Pathology can become a ‘Micro Detective’ this month at a pair of events hosted by the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
The two career events will offer a unique opportunity to discover how lab scientists make a difference in patients' lives through fun activities and the chance to meet the expert team.
School, college, and university students considering their options, career changers, and people simply curious about Pathology, are all encouraged to come to the events being held in Exeter and Barnstaple.
Attendees are invited to step into the shoes of a microbiologist and solve a case using their detective skills. Unravel the series of clues in hands-on challenges to understand the amazing work that microbiologists carry out.
Amy Denman-Johnson, Microbiology Service Manager at the Royal Devon said: “These events have been created to give people a chance to understand the hidden role Biomedical Scientists plays in patient care. We are keen to help students understand more of the career options and routes available as well as to experience first-hand what it is like to be a Micro Detective!”
There will also be opportunities to quiz the scientific team about the work they do, the course options and qualifications needed, as well the different career pathways to become a Biomedical Scientist, Healthcare Science Assistant or Consultant.
