The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Trust will be holding a community nursing recruitment event for registered nurses in December, with job offers being made on the spot. Student nurses, registered nurses, or nurses looking to return to practice after a career break are encouraged to attend the event to discover the rewarding role in the Urgent Care Nursing team, delivering patient-focused care.
The Community Nursing team will be on hand to discuss the opportunities for nurses to increase their skills treating a wide range of conditions, illnesses and injuries to prevent hospital admissions. Community nursing also offers opportunities to gain teaching experience and work autonomously as part of a friendly, multi-disciplinary team, supported by excellent training and development opportunities.
Attendees will be able to learn more about the Royal Devon’s pioneering and innovative approach to patient care, including the use of electronic patient records in the community and the development of a community equipment bag with CorrMed, specifically tailored to the needs of patients and community nurses.
Samantha Carlton, a clinical matron in the community team at the Royal Devon, said: “It’s a real privilege to care for patients in their homes and help them stay fit and healthy. There are lots of development opportunities for both clinical and management skills, including the specialist practice qualification. It is a varied role where no two days are the same!”
The Trust’s Urgent Care Nursing team provides essential support to patients by offering high-quality care within the community, reducing the need for hospital admissions. Team members collaborate with services such as 111, hospices, and the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust to ensure seamless, patient-centred care.
