Nominations open for the Royal Devon’s Extraordinary People Awards 2026
20 Apr 2026
Our NHS staff and volunteers deliver extraordinary work every day. The Royal Devon’s Extraordinary People Awards recognise the hard work, dedication and amazing care given by both individual staff and teams.
The Trust is asking patients and carers to nominate a staff member, team or volunteer in the ‘Extraordinary Care’ category. If you, or someone you know received excellent care from an individual or team at the Royal Devon, you can nominate them here.
Why your nomination matters
Every nomination helps recognise the incredible work carried out across the Royal Devon and celebrates the inspiring people making a real difference to the lives of the Trust’s patients and their carers and families.
Last year the Trust hosted 300 hundred staff at an awards ceremony at Sandy Park, Exeter. Finalists came together and shared inspirational examples of their work across services at the Royal Devon, and the 17 winners were presented with their awards.
Sam Higginson, Chief Executive Officer at the Royal Devon, said: "Our Extraordinary People Awards are such an important way to recognise the incredible people who make our organisation what it is.
“At a time when our staff are working under significant financial and operational pressures, it’s so important that we take the time to recognise and celebrate the dedication, resilience and achievements of our colleagues and, above all, say thank you.
“I encourage everyone to take a moment to nominate someone who deserves to be recognised.”
Patients and carers can make their nomination here, or to request a paper copy of the nomination form email rduh.employee.experience@nhs.net.

Nominations will close on Sunday 31 May 2026 at 11.59pm. Winners will be chosen by a panel of representatives from across the Trust and patient representatives, and will be announced at a special celebration event at Sandy Park, Exeter, on Friday 2 October 2026 entirely funded by corporate sponsors.
The Trust is looking for corporate sponsorship for the celebration event. More information about their sponsorship packages is available here.
