Video appointments let you talk to a clinician using your smartphone, tablet or computer. They are an excellent way to provide you with information, advice and support at a place that is most convenient to you.
In April this year, we changed the system we use for our video appointments to Microsoft Teams, making it easier for patients to access their video appointment via MY CARE. We asked patients to share their experience and feedback has been really positive:
Parents told us a video appointment is convenient when childcare is not available and children are able to play at home, rather than going into hospital. Patients also told us:
“The video appointment was very clear and better than a phone call.”
“For me it was helpful because I find it very difficult to do via a phone call plus my wife was able to take part in the conversation which is a great help.”
“I’m unable to drive, due to my medical condition, so it was helpful for me to have a video appointment rather than a face to face appointment.”
Dr Stuart Kyle, Consultant Rheumatologist and Clinical Lead for Outpatient Transformation at Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Video appointments are a really good option for people who don’t need to see a clinician face to face, find it difficult to travel to hospital or feel more comfortable talking about their health in their own home. I’m really pleased that people have had such positive experiences and we will continue to offer video appointments to patients (where appropriate) as an alternative to coming into hospital.”
If you are due to have a video appointment you can find more information on our website here or click on the video below.
Patients said it was really easy to log onto their video appointments via MY CARE. You can benefit too - sign up to MY CARE and access your appointments and healthcare information in one convenient place.
