Our Northern Maternity Services
In our Northern unit, we have six private birthing rooms, and two have birthing pools.
We also have birthing balls and mats to help you move around and feel comfortable during labour.
Each room has a TV, a comfy chair, and lights you can turn down to help make the room calm and relaxing.
If you need an operation, like a planned caesarean or emergency care, we have a special theatre on the labour ward.
The Broadsands Room
We have a special room called the Broadsands Room.
It has:
- A birthing pool with a lovely beach picture on the wall
- A special birthing chair
- A shower, sofa, and tea and coffee area
- A Bluetooth speaker for music
- Soft towels, matching bedding, and hidden medical equipment to make it feel like home
- Dim lights to help you relax
This room is for women having a healthy pregnancy and being looked after by midwives.
Home Birth
If you want to have your baby at home, our community midwives can come and help you.
This is usually for women with no pregnancy problems.
You can talk about this with your midwife during your pregnancy.
