Leaving hospital
Our care continues even after you leave the hospital.
A midwife from your local team will contact you the day after you get home. They will plan the next time they need to see you and your baby.
When your baby is about 10 days old, we will usually hand over your care to the Public Health Nursing Team (these are called health visitors).
All babies get a special new-born check (called a NIPE check). A trained midwife or baby doctor will do this. It might happen while you are still in hospital, or you may be asked to come back for an appointment
Get in contact
If you have any urgent health concerns, think you are in labour, or are worried about your baby’s movements, please contact us at any time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
